Home Technology
Reliable Wi-Fi to the dock and music in every room are planning decisions, not afterthoughts.
Plan early
- Whole-home audio zones
- Network coverage, including outdoor areas
- Media rooms and outdoor screens
- Equipment rated by manufacturers for its location
Coverage to the water
Waterfront lots are often long and sloped, with the house at the top and the dock at the bottom. Getting a reliable network signal down to a patio, pool, or dock usually takes planned wiring and outdoor-rated access points rather than a single router in the living room. Plan conduit during construction or renovation, while walls and trenches are open.
Whole-home audio and media
Decide which rooms and outdoor areas need their own audio zone, where a media room or outdoor screen makes sense, and where equipment will live. Ventilated equipment space and labelled wiring make future upgrades easier. Use equipment rated by its manufacturer for the location where it will be installed.
